Maximus Custom Yachts, Changing The Rules One Hull At A Time

Maximus American Marine was established in 2005 in Hampton Bays, New York. Owner Bill Demchak was looking for a way to build a mid forty foot custom sportfisherman of Palm Beach quality and construction.

The only problem was that most custom sportfish builders had abandoned the construction of smaller vessels focusing on boats over 60 feet in length with larger profit margins. However, profit margin was not the driving factor for Bill, a passion for fishing and the industry's history are what motivated him to build custom sportfish boats.

Interested in the whole design-build process, he searched out a high quality builder who shared the same passion and found Tom Schaefer and Chet Darenberg, both experienced in the marine industry and nearing completion on a 41 ft custom cold-molded dayboat and searching for their next project. Tom has built a variety of high quality custom sportfish vessels, while Chet worked on a number of vessels in new construction and the repair industry.

The last piece of the puzzle was hiring naval architect Erwin Gerards of EG Designs to further perfect the design and engineering. Erwin designs for several custom boat builders in Florida and provides naval architecture firms with his services.
